Wherein I Put Up A Tribute

Well, turns out that a certain insidiously clever and quite cunning and funny (far more funny than myself) individual was suspended for daring to mess with the Mighty Rowling Empire.
In tribute, I'm posting up what likely seemed to get him suspended in the first place. I had a hunch about this, mainly because he was warned for posting exclusive content before the actual release date of the book.
All credit should go to mightygodking for the creative cunning behind this. I am only providing some space.
( And with that, on with the show! Spoilers for those that haven't read Harry Potter and The Final Cashing In, yet! )
EDIT: Actually, it turns out that he was doing some Archie Comics copyright violations, or some such. However, the timing of this is still rather suspect... and this needs to be out there anyway. So there it is.

So hard to believe that I'll actually be having my degree in less than seven months. Four classes (two this summer, two this fall), and my Internship... and that's it. Done. Fini.
Wow.
Anyway, on with the disturbing video... in this case, a particularly weird AMV that takes an apparently Alice in Wonderland-ish anime and turns it into something... decidedly not.

It was the best of things, it was the worst of things
May. 5th, 2007 | 02:17 am
location: Underground Lair
mood: awake
music: That Thing You Do - The Wonders
Well, the best of things was Spiderman 3. Saw that this evening with a late showing, and it was definitely worth the $8.25.
( Spoilers Behind This Cut )
On the other hand, the worst of things was a webcomic I read regularly. For those that don't know, it's called Order of the Stick. Now, it's a very fun (typically) parody of D&D gaming and tabletop in general. Lately, though, there's been a rash of triumphantly evil posts, that just seem to denigrate from the actions of the PCs, who are after all the stars of the show. I mean, they ARE the PCs, and the main bad guy has been shown to be so powerful that the PCs literally have no chance against him.
This, to me, is bad drama, and it's boring. Yes, the odds should be dire, but there should be a SLIVER of hope in the air. Right now (and this is where being a RPG geek comes in), there is not. And it hurts the story, particularly in the light of how badass the main evil NPC comes across, which was brought to full fruition in this night's strip.
Needless to say, I'm not sure if I'll be reading too much more of it, if it continues on this plotline... but we'll see how it goes.

Yes, it has, it really has. And I do have some ( angsty bits )
However, I'd rather devote my actual open space to fun.
And I know they've been done, but here's some 300 things I found online, gathered for your viewing convenience:

Of course, all your base DO belong to Leonidas...
Though I don't think this is QUITE what Herodotus had in mind (Frank Miller, on the other hand)...
And lastly, just remember that Batman's gonna get shot in the face (okay, so it's not 300, isn't that joke worn out anyway)?

Life, the Universe, and Everything

music: Dixie Chicks - Taking the Long Way
Well, I was run off the road last night. Basically, coming home from work (my one day a month to actually be IN the office), and dealing with the hangover that is a five hour meeting, a huge-ass pickup truck didn't check their blind spot before swerving into my lane.
Fortunately, I'm paranoid, lucky, and skilled enough to have pulled into the shoulder as I saw him coming... which, when my suddenly braking tires caught the gravel on the side, caused me to skid. I was able to eventually straighten out (backwards) on the shoulder, without hurting anyone including myself. And the car is fine too, amazingly. But man, that still gives me the booboojeebies.

Okay, so I judge HeroClix at a game shop, and we actually had a fair amount of people (10) at the event! Woot!
And, in this case, two of the players decided to forget that they were playing for a little piece of plastic, and started an argument after their game. Which lasted long enough that it seriously slowed things down... and I was dragged into it because I was apparently "Biased towards my friends" there. Though I should have DQ'd them both, I refrained and let them finish, and they both did apologize to me afterwards. The whole "bias" thing bothers me, mainly because I think it's the Troll and his hellish brood that spread such nonsense about me in the first place.
Ah well, it's done and over with. Oofda.

Just got back from Ghost Rider... a sneak preview, that is. It was MOST excellent. Peter Fonda was a great devil, Sam Elliott was cool as always, and Nicolas Cage was awesome. He had Johnny Blaze nailed.
Anyway, no spoilers, but it was great. Go see it. *grins*

See, the weather out here was hideous, and with telecommuting, I didn't want to drive INTO town for Heroclix. So instead, my dad and I went into the local Elks Lodge and played in the tournament.
And I got second place! (After not playing forever, I had a REALLY good lucky streak going.)
So, I get a little cash prize, and it was great fun to socialize with the lodge and meet some of the other guys. And it was also nice to just have a Guys Night with Dad, something that doesn't happen too often.

AbeBooks is a great source for textbooks... I think I saved $100 by getting two books there instead of the campus store. If you are going to college, going BACK to college, or generally looking for cheap books, try there.

Why do you bother me with such trivial nonsense? Do you think I want servants that cannot manage to cooperate with Mutual Feedback Withdrawal? And why are you buying items for yourself when you should be giving me tribute? I demand you send this item to me immediately.

Well, my telecommuting experience is postponed at least one day. Apparently there's some outdated drivers on the laptop, so I can't connect remotely. IF I had Admin privileges on my laptop, I could do it myself. Alas, I don't.
So, I need to go into work and have them take care of it. Blar. Ah well, one more day of dealing with the commute; at least the weather looks nice tomorrow.
